Last-minute, Active Family Vacations for the Christmas Holiday: REI Adventures

I’ve been perusing old posts here at The Vacation Gals, finding it intriguing how many all-inclusive vacations we’ve been on in recent years — not only your typical “all-inclusive Mexican beach resort” type of vacations, but also dude and guest ranches, cruises, family tours and summertime adventures in Colorado’s ski mountains. Obviously we’re keen on trips where some of the planning has been done for us. (Heck, we moms plan and organize in our “real lives” all the time — it’s sometimes nice to let someone else tell us where to go and what to do!)

I like vacation packages that are geared toward active families, such as the itineraries from REI Adventures. The activities on these trips sound absolutely awesome –  from paddling in Costa Rica to wildlife viewing in Africa to caving in Greece. Experienced and knowledgeable guides accompany each trip to help families learn about local flora and fauna, safely supervising each outdoor activity along the way (they’re also in charge of behind-the-scenes logistics, such as luggage transfers and hotel reservations).

If you don’t have vacation plans during the Christmas holidays, and would consider having Santa deliver gifts to Africa or another foreign country, check out these trips that still have limited availability:

REI Adventures offers loads more itineraries to different locales — including a handful right here in the United States — especially during the summer months, when kids are off from school.
